Alright, ladies and fellas...
I'm sorry if you've tried to acquire playlists from this site and have been thinking me to be a bodiless voice who is only a part of the real world from 3-5 pm on Tuesday evenings. To be honest, I've been doing a subpar DJing job this semester, partially due to my courseload and partially due to the chronic oversaturation (read: too much music!) my brain's been receiving lately. Regardless, I'm getting back in the saddle and will begin to be a productive DJ for the last couple weeks of the semester. Late start, I know. Here's the rough gist of what I've played on the good weeks this semester, in case you're curious:
02/24/09: Oscar-themed. Music from the soundtracks of "Almost Famous," "High Fidelity," "Now & Then," "Garden State," "Juno," "That Thing You Do," "The Parent Trap," "Rushmore," and "I'm Not There."
03/03/09: Pre-Spring Break. Music about New York (the great state in which we reside), Chicago (my place of origin), and California (my destination for Spring Break '09!).
03/24/09: "Soul Brothers & Soul Sisters." Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and Dusty Springfield.
04/21/09: Summer Music Preview. The music of artists coming out with fresh discs this spring and summer, including but not limited to: Grizzly Bear, Conor Oberst, Wilco, Regina Spektor, Sonic Youth, and the Flaming Lips. Based off the preview article in Rolling Stone 04/02/09: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/26794055/spring_music_preview_inside_45_of_the_years_biggest_albums
Next week might be the final week of regular programming, in which case I'll try my best to plan a stellar show. I knew I needed to up the ante when I was approached by two members of Tuesday afternoon's fiber arts class and told by each that their entire class tunes in every week... Sorry to disappoint, guys.
