P.S. 11/11/08

On the 11th, I played a show that was more of a Listening Experience: I played the full album of Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" uninterrupted. If you missed it, I'd be more than glad to burn you a copy and mail it to you, wherever you are. It's the most beautiful album I've ever heard, and could be the most beautiful album you ever hear.

Here is the Pitchfork review I quoted: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/23177-wilco-yankee-hotel-foxtrot
And here's a review David Fricke wrote in Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/322307/review/5946403/yankeehotelfoxtrot

Just a little addendum; I forgot to write last week... Thanks for listening!

No Wilco?!

I thought I'd have an extended slot this week because Charlie & Alex (the DJs after me) were going to be late, but I ended up playing just more than my normal time... Hopefully I'll be able to entertain you all with Part II next time I'm on air.

Here was the day's playlist:

"(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone" - Aretha Franklin
"I Say A Little Prayer For You" - Aretha Franklin
"Get Lonely" - The Mountain Goats
"Up the Wolves" - The Mountain Goats
"My Little Town" - Simon & Garfunkel
"Homeward Bound" - Simon & Garfunkel
"Hour Follows Hour" - Ani Difranco
"School Night" - Ani Difranco
"Rock & Roll" - Velvet Underground
"Sunday Morning" - Velvet Underground
"Lost Cause" - Beck
"Volcano" - Beck
"All the Old Showstoppers" - The New Pornographers
"Letter from an Occupant" - The New Pornographers
"Wrapped Up in Books" - Belle & Sebastian
"Lazy Line Painter Jane" - Belle & Sebastian

...Look for Joni Mitchell, The Weepies, Otis Redding, and more after Thanksgiving if I can fit it in! Next week I'm going to find a sub because I'll be on my way back to Chicago (to hang out with Wilco), so tune in if you'd like to hear something different, then Radio Cure is back on the air Tuesday, December 2nd - the third-to-last show of the semester!
